'Minecraft Dungeons' on XCloud has been Optimized for Touchscreens

Microsoft's long-awaited xCloud game streaming service will officially launch on the 15th of April with more than 150 games. One of the games available is Minecraft Dungeons, and Microsoft has announced that the developers Mojang Studios and Double Eleven have made it easier to play the game on the move by optimizing it for touchscreen controls. This means that you can play the game on your Android phone or tablet without having to hook up an external controller.

The majority of Xbox games included in xCloud were developed with the Xbox controller in mind, and Microsoft imagines most gamers will be playing them by clipping a controller to a smartphone.  Thewatr.net In this case, Microsoft wanted the game to feel native to mobile, so it'll have not just touch controls but also a redesigned UI better suited to the small screen. This will allow users to navigate inventories or menus, as well as any text that may be associated with them.

Microsoft noted that the most intuitive spots to place the actions (moves, melees, ranged attack and dodge) are the areas where touch controls are most prominent. This is because the game was created with the use of touch controls in mind instead of being a secondary factor. We'll have to play the game to find out whether they succeeded, but it is a positive indication that Microsoft is considering ways to make games more enjoyable even when they're not on the TV.
